The Challenge!

As a young family with only one parent in full time work (I am self employed and in the process of starting a new business) money is a subject often on our minds. With 6 weeks of school holidays looming (Rob is a teacher) we decided to challenge ourselves to a "budget" week.

I usually spend around £50 on our weekly food shop but it can stretch up to £70+ if nappies, washing powder or other high-pricetag items are on the list. We decided that we would limit ourselves to just spending £50 for the whole week to cover everything, for 2 adults and one toddler, excluding household bills. So all food and drink, entertainment, toiletries, travel etc... all of this needed to come in for under £50.

This blog is going to photo-document our week. I really hope that, not only will it save us a few pounds for this week, but it will leave some long term money-saving influence on us too.

Will we succeed with our challenge? Or will we run out of pennies before we even reach the weekend... we'll see!
